Local Artist- Laura Brown

Wednesday 27th November 2019

Local Artist- Laura Brown.

The first frost has been and gone and we’re cosying up ready for winter by the fire here at Shed on the Fell. It’s all festive fairs, family and friends in the busy run up to Christmas.

My chocolate lab Seb has braved the season of fireworks and has told me he is looking forward to some winter walks up on Jeffrey Hill this month. I always get inspiration when out walking and this is reflected throughout my artwork.

I’ve been experimenting with marbling this autumn and have a lovely batch of affordable Christmas decorations to hang on your tree. I like the fact that each decoration is unique and I’m definitely keeping some back for my own tree. Of course, if you want to go the full festive hog then you can also pick up a pack of my winter-themed Christmas cards, limited edition prints or maybe even commission a bespoke artwork (if you hurry!).

Hot off the press is my sparkly new calendar for 2020! It was fun compiling some of my favourite Shed on the Fell images and a few new artworks. The calendars will be available at upcoming art fairs and on my website along with some beautiful bookmarks and my Shruti homeware collection.

Whilst setting out my stalls at various events over the next month I always keep an eye out for unique gifts from my fellow stallholders. I’m stocking up on Ribble Valley Gin Company’s Winter’s Night Gin to give to my nearest and dearest this year. I was delighted to be asked to have a hand in creating the artwork for my local distillery.

If you have an appetite for buying locally and handmade this season, then please support your high street and your local artisans with your wallets and your warmth.
